Rob Dewar, the core of the Rock Shop, has followed a colourfully-varied career spanning over three and a half decades, which has uniquely positioned him to serve his client base in the music production field. Some highlights of Rob's experience and skill set include:
- 36 years of guitar experience with musical experience starting with piano from the age of six
- Many years of touring experience as both a performing guitarist and as an audio engineer
- More than 28 years in the audio engineering and music production fields in both studio and live settings
- 9 years as a college-level instructor in audio engineering, production, mastering, acoustics and synthesizers
- 7 years in the professional audio consulting, design and supply business
- Decades of composition and sound design experience on both personal and client's projects
- Music compositions which have been performed around the globe in radio, television and live performances
- Over 40 years of mimicking character voices and creating custom voice characters
- An intensely creative mind with a penchant for "nailing the details"
- A passionate love of a perfectly-executed editing job and mixdown
Rob's long experience in such a variety of musical and production environments has enabled him to quickly get a "feel" for what the final result of any project should be, no matter what style, and to capture that feeling both technically and artistically in a dynamic, top-professional package for his clients. With a wide scope of highly-polished skills in the combined areas of music composition, guitar performance, synthesizer and sequencer programming, sound design, voice acting, recording, editing, mixing and mastering, Rob is able to create a remarkably faithful and yet totally original production of virtually anything imaginable, in-house, and with a selection of top studio session players just a call away, the Rock Shop can produce music with an amazing set of veteran performers, in the studio, or in a live setting, too.
